Illegal Characters

Could anyone tell me if Æ Ð Þ æ ð þ etc are considered by GOA to be illegal characters? I’d like to use them in the correct spelling of a last name of my character but am unsure if I’d get into trouble over it. It would seem a shame if these genuine period letters were not allowed.

Last name with special characters :

Several times previously we have given "friendly" warnings to players using special characters in last names or guild names on our servers.
Since the "friendly" reminders don't seem to work, this is the last warning : If you have a special character in your name, go to your "name registrar" and change it as soon as possible. Starting next week, we will start taking more "severe" actions on the accounts not respecting this rule. Do not hesitate to inform your guild mates and friends. The only exceptions to this are the accents and the umlaut.

Guess those are a no no then

Thanks, it was the accents and umlaut that gave me the idea that those charecters are ok as they are just more or less the same thing in a different language

it depends on the characters I think - maybe ask RightNow...

I'm sure some characters are allowed (after all there's french and german language servers that'll require umlauts)....

ok, asked on E&E boards - not sure those sorts of characters are allowed (I think the only chars allowed are the ones in french or german and only if you're on the french/german server)

However, you shouldn't be able to change your surname to any 'illegal' characters any more so if you can change to it it'll be ok...

My advice is to give it a try

(incidentally they made all these characters illegal because it stuffs up the xml and the servers - they're not designed for that kinda thing)

Do you remember the uber prydwen/midgard guild Eye of Odin? Their in-game guild name had special characters in it if I'm not mistaken. I also know it wasn't displayed correctly on all systems too, that's why Mythic doesn't like you using them.
