Aside from picking the team and a few pep talks the actual job of the manager is over estimated they could just change the job description to 'scapegoat'. Chances are that the coach actually has more to do with actual team performance then the manager but even then it is still down to the team itself.

I think blame needs to rest more squarely on the players themselves and the state of english football in general.
