For all those pub conversations that stump you...

You're down the pub, and after a few beers the conversation drifts off on a tangent, and someone asks a peculiar question that has everyone stumped. You know, things like "What exactly is scampi?", or "What's the oldest beer known to man?". What do you do?

The answer:

Text your question (if in the UK) to 63336 and wait for the response. Costs 50p per text but it's a bunch of people who have set up a service to answer any question you throw at them. Used it in the pub Saturday night and both questions we asked (the one's above) were answered within 5 minutes (i.e. before we had forgotten what we were talking about). Top notch service for a Saturday night booze up :great:

IIRC scampi is an italian word for shrimp. But what scampi is depends on where you are. In our case it's battered or breadcrumbed shrimp tails.

Can't stand seafood myself

The answer we got was that it's prawns or shrimps coated in breadcrumbs...its the whole dish that is called scampi. We asked it because we weren't sure whether it was prawns in it or some reconstituted fish inside the breadcrumbs :great:

Answer we got is that the Sumerians (whoever they were) brewed beer something like 4000 years ago... though I'd imagine it will have gone flat by now :o
