really really bad news

Post by Ghengis »

heard on the radio this morning that Terry Pratchett has alzheimers (SP).
For someone with that level of genius to know he is going to lose control in that way is just tragic.
Terry has said he probably has a few more discworld books left before it`s too late.

I met him in Southampton when I was 19, when he signed my copy of Disc World. He is a very inspiring authour; and much of his talent lies in making the surreal believeable. It's tragic, and I hope his network of carers have the additional support they need, at this very difficult time.

Still at least it sounds like he is in a lot better position than most in regards to how serious he has it currently, he probably has the finances to help him deal with it better than others as well..

Hopefully it will be something he can cope with..

Haven't read a Pratchett book in some time - used to love em to be fair, might dig one out once I get through my current book backlog!

Night Watch sounds familiar - if its an older one (talking prob 10yrs or so at least) then I probably read it - friend of mine had all of his books at the time and I borrowed them one after another and read them all I think..

Wonder if it was guards guards then, twas many moons and many books ago now! Got a couple of Greg Isles books and a Chuck Palanihiuk(sp?) to read atm then I may treat myself to some light hearted Pratchett :)
