The big question: Which ones do you prioritize? The answer my friend, is this simple, easy to remember acronym:

C.H.E.B.

Cold, Heat, Energy, Body.

Now reverse the letters to get the priority

Why those four?

There are 82 Hib and Mid spells in 9 categories we can be hit with in RvR (not counting debuffs to stats). They include Mez, Stun, Root, Snare, DD, DoT, Bolt, GTAoE, and Attack Speed debuffs. This includes all Bard/Skald, Nightshade magic etc..

66 of the 82 spells, 80% of the total, fall into the CHEB group of resists.

90% of all Mez spells are C.H.E.B.
100% of all Stun spells are C.H.E.B.
50% of all Root spells are C.H.E.B.
60% of all Snare spells are C.H.E.B.
94% of all DD spells(!) are C.H.E.B.
80% of all DoT spells are C.H.E.B.
80% of all Bolt spells are C.H.E.B.
100% of all GTAoE spells are C.H.E.B.
85% of all Attack Speed debuff spells are C.H.E.B.

Why prioritize for Body first?

6 out of the 10 Mez spells are Body.
3 out of the 6 Stun spells are Body.
4 out of 8 Root spells are Body.

13 out of all 29 CC class spells are Body. That's 44% of all the CC spells in the game.

Energy next? You betcha...

12 DDs, 2 DoTs, 2 Bolts, and 100% of all the GTAoE in the game.

Heat is next as it wraps up our stun resists...

3 of the 6 Stun spells are Heat.
6 out of 34 DDs are Heat based, but -all- Hib casters have these Stuns and Nukes as their Baseline spells.

Cold

11 DDs, 2 Bolts, 2 Mez. Important as most Hib nukes fall into the Cold category, especially those nasty Nuke+Snares from the Enchanter's pets.

Heat and Cold combined account for 67% of all the DD spells in the game. (Hib and Mid, I'm obviously ignoring Albion casters)

Spirit and Matter are the last two resists, total 12 spells, and only comprise 14.6% of all the spells that'll be landing on you in RvR. Of those 12, only 4 of those spells actually do any damage. 7 of them are CC spells. (1 Mez, 4 Root, 2 Snares) The last is an attack speed debuff.

So.. what resists are -you- gonna make sure you cap first when SpellCrafting goes live?

One game "tick" is 4 seconds. If a DoT lists a x5 or x6 next to it that means it "ticks" 5 times over 20 seconds or 6 times over 24 seconds etc.

All Spells listed are the highest level versions of each spell, which presumes max spec for the line in order for that class to have it. An 'S' listed in the spec column indicates that the spell is a "spec" only spell and must be trained to receive. All other spells are "baseline" and all casters of that type will have it. (With varying effectiveness due to spec levels etc..)

The generally accepted method of determining the effects of spec on spell
damage is as follows: (Assuming a lvl 50 casting upon vs lvl 50 target)

DD Delve * 2.0 * (acuity) * (relic+outpost) * (Mastery of Magery) = Dmg

For example, a completely maxed out Runemaster tossing their very best bolt with max acuity buffs, all 3 power relics, and MoMagery IV:

Base Bolt Dmg: 317d
*2.00 against lvl 50
*1.25 Max Acuity (buffs)
*1.20 (relic bonuses)
*1.12 Mastery of Magery
= 1,065 damage (before resists of course)
